With an independent spirit as great as the American frontier, Due West is staking their claim to Nashville fame. Three brothers in spirit, if not by blood, Tim Gates, Brad Hull and Matt Lopez comprise this energetic young band based on tight three-part harmony, smart, sincere songwriting and perhaps most of all, the kind of friendship legends are made of.
Matt and Brad's tight harmonies, born of their appreciation for R&B and schooling in a barbershop quartet, proved the perfect complement to Tim's incredible lead vocals. Brad and Matt call Gates country music's next legendary voice, comparing him to Marty Raybon of Shenandoah or Brooks & Dunn's Ronnie Dunn. All three gentlemen are accomplished songsmiths, full-time staff writers who have earned cuts by Lady Antebellum, Bucky Covington, and the Gaither Brothers.

Over the course of his extraordinary career, Michael Bolton, singer, songwriter, and social activist, has sold over 53 million albums and singles worldwide, and has won, among other numerous honors, two Grammys for Best Male Vocalist and six American Music Awards.
He has earned a Star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame, and sold out arenas worldwide. The diverse Bolton has sung and recorded with Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo and Ray Charles, played guitar with B.B. King and had his music sampled by hip-hop superstar Kanye West (featuring megastar Jay-Z) and also on a cd/dvd by John Legend.
A prolific songwriter as well, Bolton has penned hit songs for a wide-ranging group of legendary artists including Barbra Streisand, KISS, Kenny G., Cher, Peabo Bryson and Patti Labelle. Joe Cocker, Marc Anthony, Greg Allman, Wynonna Judd and Kenny Rogers have also recorded Bolton’s songs. He has earned multiple honors in this field, including BMI’s Songwriter of the Year, Song of the Year, and Million-Air Awards, ASCAP’s Writer and Publisher Awards, and a Hitmaker Award from the Songwriters Hall of Fame. He’s one of a very few artists to have written with the incomparable Bob Dylan.
The songs Bolton has chosen to record have resulted in awards and millions of sales internationally, as well as some controversy. In response, Michael sites the pride he derives from the support of his fans, as well as the gratification from the praise of artists who inspired him early on: Otis Redding's widow, Zelma, wrote to Bolton proclaiming his rendition of "Dock of the Bay" her "favorite version of my husband’s classic," adding that Otis would have approved.
The song’s co-writer, legendary soul guitarist Steve Cropper, echoed her praise. Billboard reported that Percy Sledge, who originally recorded "When a Man Loves a Woman," declared, "I think Michael is one of the greatest singers I've ever heard. For him to do my song was really an honor." Bolton was chosen by Ray Charles to sing "Georgia" to him when Charles was inducted into the Jazz Hall of Fame. And, in Q Magazine, the great Smokey Robinson included Bolton’s version of "Dock of the Bay" on his list of favorite soul classics –a choice Robinson made due to Bolton's incredibly "soulful" rendition of the hit.

"The Cab Calloway Orchestra rocked the house! They swung hard all night long, they all played their tails off…! The band was fantastic. I love it!"—Paul Shaffer, CBS
The Cab Calloway Orchestra, directed by Cab's grandson, "The Prince of Hi De Ho," C. Calloway Brooks, comes from the Big Band Swing Jazz Orchestra tradition that came bursting out of the Cotton Club, and the Savoy Ballroom, in the Harlem Renaissance during the golden age of radio in the 1930's and 1940's. These days, this most American of Art Music is still hot and sizzling!
Growing directly out of the Louis Armstrong New Orleans Dixieland tradition, Cab Calloway and his Orchestras virtually wrote the book on the "Hot Swing" sound and the "Jump" genre, and were progressive in their approach to performance. The Calloway magic touched many of the greatest Jazz musicians like Dizzy Gillespie, Milton Hinton, The Nicholas Brothers, Illinois Jaquet, Jonah Jones, Cozy Cole, Doc Cheatham, and Ben Webster all of whom emerged from Cab Calloway stints, and went on to redefine Jazz music with spectacular musical careers of their own. They -like Cab Calloway- took African-American based musical expression to whole new levels.
Cab Calloway also performed alongside greats like Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Nat King Cole, Lena Horne, Pearl Bailey, Eartha Kitt, Tony Benett, Fats Waller, and many others. Blues giant T-Bone Walker and Gospel sensation Sister Rosetta Tharpe toured with Cab Calloway and his Orchestras.
Always the diverse, multifaceted, total performance artist, Cab also shared the silver screen with Janet Jackson, The Blues Brothers, Steve McQueen, Clark Gable, W.C. Fields, Bing Crosby, Ann Margaret, Edward G. Robinson, Mickey Rooney and even Bela Lugosi. He also appeared in animations and children’s programs like Betty Boop, Popeye, Porky Pig, and Sesame Street.

Two of Utah’s cherished musical institutions join forces for a one-night-only tribute to some of Hollywood’s greatest films.
For more than three decades, Kurt Bestor's film scores, television themes, compositions and carols have provided an indelible soundtrack of American life. Indeed, much of Bestor's own life has been dedicated to creating musical parallels to visual images.
Bestor is perhaps best known for his innovative interpretation of seasonal carols but he actually launched his career writing music for television and movies. His credits include more than 40 film scores and more than 40 themes for national TV programs and commercials. It is Bestor's music that has introduced NFL Monday Night Football and National Geographic Explorer; he scored TBS's Wild! Life Adventures and the IMAX film The Great American West. He received the Outstanding Film Score Award at the New York Film and Television Festival for his music for PBS's A More Perfect Union. Bestor was awarded an Emmy® for his collaboration with Sam Cardon on the original music for ABC's coverage of the 1988 Winter Olympics.
Several years ago Kurt premiered his "Night at the Movies" concert with the Utah Symphony—a journey through the last 85 years of movie music. Using a giant screen, guest vocalists, and his usual concert repartee with the audience, Bestor traced the art of film scoring from its silent piano roots to today's exciting scores. This entertaining presentation played to three sold out shows and was introduced in January 2005 to English audiences when he performed with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic.
Now you can experience this thrilling tribute to Hollywood’s cinematic classics when Kurt Bestor and The Southwest Symphony bring this event to Southern Utah for the very first time.

You can capsulate most pop music acts by reciting how many hits they've had and how many millions of albums they've sold. But these conventional measurements fall short when you're assessing the impact of The Beach Boys. To be sure, this band has birthed a torrent of hit singles and sold albums by the tens of millions. But its greater significance lies in the fact that it changed the musical landscape so profoundly that every pop act since has been in its debt.
Even more than the Beatles, The Beach Boys found through their music the key to unfading youth-and they made copies for everyone. To these guys, the beach isn't just a place where the surf comes to play—it’s where life is renewed and made whole again.
Few, if any, acts can match The Beach Boys' concert presence, spirit and performance. They were center-stage at Live Aid, multiple Farm Aids, the Statue of Liberty's 100th Anniversary Salute, the Super Bowl and the White House. On one day alone-July 4, 1985-they played to nearly 2 million fans at shows in Philadelphia and Washington, D. C.
In addition to founding Beach Boy Mike Love (lead vocals) and Beach Boy-vet Bruce Johnston (vocals/keyboards), Mike Kowalski (drums), Randell Kirsch (guitar/vocals), Chris Farmer (bass/vocals), Tim Bonhomme (keyboards/vocals), John Cowsill of The Cowsills (keyboards/vocals/percussion) and Scott Totten (guitar/vocals) round out the band.

If Odyssey Dance Theatre's "Thriller" isn't part of your yearly Halloween tradition, it should be. The spooky spectacular combines technical aspects of dance while paying homage to the stars of All Hallows' Eve.
Throughout the two-hour program, "Thriller" highlights all the heroes of the season, including Frankenstein's monster and his bride, skeletons, mummies and werewolves. But among the ghouls, you'll find other unlikely heroes of Halloween, such as the knife-savvy Lorena Bobbitt and the "Giggle Girl," who sings and maniacally laughs her way through songs such as "I Saw Mommy Killing Santa Claus."
Critics agree that Odyssey Dance Theatre is nothing short of spectacular:
"Compelling dance performed to perfection! Young, trim, slim, and athletic....Great fun!" --The Spectrum
"Odyssey's "Thriller"..a delightful "Dance Macabre"....As for humor, there were bucketÐloads. Laughs abounded during a "Romeo & Juliet"Ðinspired "Frankenstein & Frankenstein" and "Jason Jam," a work that used a lot of percussive dancing, a la "Stomp," that spotlighted three "Friday the 13th" villains dancing with ice picks, machetes and, of all things, chain saws. The whole idea was cool..."Ð Scott Iwasaki, Deseret News

Michael Martin Murphey, “singing cowboy poet,” is not only the number one, best-selling singer-songwriter of American Cowboy Music, he's one of the world's most respected singer-songwriters in the Pop and Country-Western field. Murphey is the world's most prominent musical representative of the Western horseman, the horse rancher, cattle rancher, and cowboy. He's also a lover of the outdoors, with a strong commitment to issues regarding farmers and ranchers, open space, and management of natural resources.
Although Murphey did have some love song-related hits, most of them were penned by other writers such as Rafe VanHoy’s "What’s Forever For?", Jesse Winchester’s "I’m Gonna Miss You, Girl" and the Overstreet/Schuyler composition "A Long Line Of Love," most of his own work involves nature and his respect for all things living and the universe at large. And let’s not forget that his biggest hit, "Wildfire", was about a mysterious dream horse on the vast American heartland prairie. While others sang about the urban street life and hip discos, Murphey was singing about the stark beauty of the "dark, flat land" of Nebraska.
In the early 1980's, Murphey recorded a watershed album called "Michael Martin Murphey" for Capitol Records, produced by fellow-Texan, Jim Ed Norman, architect of the cross-over country sound of the time. Murphey's self-penned "Still Taking Chances," released that same year, was, according to Murphey, one of the first love songs he ever wrote. It also went high on the charts, solidifying his relationship with country radio as a singer-songwriter, which exposed him to an entirely new audience. Ironically, 12 years after his first hit in Pop music, Murphey was awarded Best New Artist by the Academy of Country Music in 1983 (beating out George Strait!), and he continued to enjoy hits on country and pop radio throughout the decade. In 1987, his "A Long Line Of Love," reached No. 1. "I’m Going Miss You, Girl" (written by Jesse Winchester) and "From The Word Go," from his 1988 album River Of Time, both went to No. 3. His last single on the charts was "Cowboy Logic" in 1989.
Now you can enjoy Murphey’s classic songs live when he performs at the Tuacahn Amphitheatre for one special night of down-home music.
