BYU’s Young Ambassadors will open the fall season with a return visit to Tuacahn November 8 at 7:00 p.m. This musical production celebrates popular music and dance from the 1960s up to the present day, including hits by Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, Carole King, Stevie Wonder, Diamond Rio, and some of Broadway’s biggest hits. Family audiences will not want to miss songs from the movies they grew up loving, along with Broadway melodies from Wicked, Spamalot, and more.
Late November also marks the return of Tuacahn’s annual holiday tradition, The Festival of Lights and Live Nativity. A sacred pageant reenacting the birth of Jesus in Bethlehem more than 2,000 years ago, the Live Nativity features volunteer groups from Washington County taking on the roles of Mary, Joseph, the Innkeeper and the other characters involved in this beloved story. Narration for the event is provided by former KSL TV news anchor, Dick Norse.
The Festival of Lights with Live Nativity opens the holiday season the day after Thanksgiving and continues each Monday and Thursday-Saturday evenings from 6:00-9:00 p.m. The Live Nativity offers two performances nightly at 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. You can also experience thousands of twinkling lights, visit Santa Claus, enjoy live entertainment on the outdoor plaza or ride the Ruby’s Inn Holiday Train. Admission to the Live Nativity is $2.00 per person or $10.00 per family and tickets for the train ride cost $1.00 per person. Tickets can be purchased at the door.
The Live Nativity will not take place on Friday, December 5 in order to accommodate Tuacahn’s annual Christmas in the Canyon holiday concert at 7:00 p.m. This year, Tuacahn will present a musical program entitled “The Gift” featuring the talents of Ryan Shupe & The Rubberband, Peter Breinholt, and Sam Payne.
“The Gift” is a special musical experience brought to the stage by some of your favorite performers. Ryan Shupe’s treatments of holiday favorites will have audiences grinning while Peter Breinholt brings his characteristic sincerity to Christmas classics both traditional and new. Award-winning songwriter and storyteller Sam Payne spins a web of songs and stories that for years have captivated the young and young at heart. Behind it all, Shupe’s remarkable Rubberband brings incredible musical talent to the stage as the elfish tailors of the Christmas cheer that runs rampant through the evening.
