Tuacahn Amphitheatre for the Arts is already well known as a place for live music and professional theatre, and starting this spring the venue will also become home to local artists and crafters looking to sell their work to the public. Commencing Saturday, May 9, and continuing through November 28, Tuacahn will host a weekly outdoor market featuring local artwork, crafts, food, entertainment, and more.
The marketplace will open each Saturday this spring from 9:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. (8:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. during the summer, June 13-Sept. 5). Admission and entertainment is free. Patrons will be able to stroll along the tree lined walkways near the water feature and browse the displays by local painters, artists, and crafters. Food, including seasonal fruits and vegetables, will be available for purchase. Each week local PTA groups will sponsor a pancake breakfast from 9:00–11:00 a.m.
To celebrate the opening of the weekly market, local country musician Eric Dodge will provide free entertainment on the outdoor plaza stage May 9 from 12:00–1:00 p.m. For information about Eric and his music visit ericdodge.com.
Additionally, on May 9, patrons can enter to win two free tickets to Annie, Footloose, or Elton John & Tim Rice’s Aida, Tuacahn’s upcoming productions. Tickets will be given away every fifteen minutes from 9:00–11:00 a.m.
Tuacahn Gift Gallery Manager and Saturday Market organizer, Chris Graham, knows this can be a great opportunity for people looking for something fun to do on a Saturday morning and for crafters who want to earn additional income in the current economic climate. “This will become a fun tradition in St. George for locals and visitors alike,” she says. “It will really be a fun event year-round for the whole family. Our hope is that this event will become a staple in the community.”
