FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Tuacahn Presents Spring Concert Series

IVINS, Utah – Tuacahn Center for the Arts announces its 2005 Spring Concert Series beginning with the LDS Night of Stars featuring Michael McLean on April 1st, Brigham Young University’s Living Legends on April 9th, and Peter Breinholt with Jon Schmidt on April 16--three family friendly concerts in the 2000-seat Tuacahn Amphitheatre.

On Friday, April 1, The LDS Night of Stars concert will not only feature platinum recording artist Michael McLean (creator of “The Forgotten Carols”), but will also include: vocalists Jeff and Scott Mclean; singer/songwriter Cherie Call, who is celebrating the release of her new album; vocalist Katie Thompson, famous for her portrayal of Connie Lou from “The Forgotten Carols;” and John Batdorf, fresh off the success of the recent film “The Best Two Years.”

On Saturday, April 9 BYU’s Living Legends (formerly known as the Lamanite Generation) presents a celebration of the Latin American, Native American, and Polynesian cultures through song and dance in their 90-minute performance entitled Seasons. Traditional choreography, intricate costumes, and heart-pounding music bring to life the simple beauty of cultures often forgotten in today’s modern world. Members of Living Legends, all of Native American, Latin American, or Polynesian heritage, perform the graceful Hawaiian hula, the driving Mexican fiesta dances, and the exciting narrative dances of a Native American powwow in a reflection on the cycle of civilization. The dances, accompanied by explanatory narration, illustrate the changing seasons experienced by ancient peoples, and weave together the legends of cultures separated by thousands of miles of ocean and land.

On Saturday, April 16 Peter Breinholt and John Schmidt return to the Tuacahn Amphitheatre following last year’s sold out performance. Songwriter Peter Breinholt has been delighting audiences with his self-styled acoustic music for more than a decade. He has not only sold out at Tuacahn but in every major concert hall in Utah, including Kingsbury Hall, Capitol Theater, Sundance, the Sandy City Amphitheater, and Thanksgiving Point. His credits include five albums, a concert DVD, two guitar songbooks, a film score, Pearl Awards, songwriting awards and concerts with several symphony orchestras.

New age classical pianist and composer, John Schmidt, is well known for his remarkably diverse musical style. Jon’s credits include six albums, five popular volumes of original piano scores, a Pearl Award, a televised PBS concert, and "A Jon Schmidt Christmas" which has fast become a successful yearly Christmas tradition along the Wasatch Front.
