The King and I
Synopsis:
Rodgers and Hammerstein’s The King and I tells the story of Anna Leonowens, a widowed English schoolteacher who arrives in 1860s Siam to educate the royal children of the King. As the King strives to modernize his country, his traditional views clash with Anna’s Western values. Despite their differences, the two develop a mutual respect, and through their relationship, they learn the power of understanding and love. At its heart, the musical explores how two seemingly incompatible people can bridge cultural divides and form a deep, unexpected connection.
