Les Misérables

Les Misérables, the world’s longest-running musical and a true modern classic, comes alive on the Tuacahn Amphitheatre stage. With its unforgettable score and timeless story, this epic musical transforms our stunning outdoor venue into 19th-century France, immersing audiences in the drama, passion, and triumph of Victor Hugo’s masterpiece.

Follow Jean Valjean, released from 19 years of unjust imprisonment, as he faces a world of mistrust and hardship. Determined to start anew, he breaks parole and embarks on a lifelong journey of redemption, relentlessly pursued by the uncompromising police inspector Javert. Along the way, Valjean’s story intertwines with that of a brave young revolutionary, the woman he loves, and the daughter he adopts, culminating in an unforgettable tale of courage, sacrifice, and hope during the Paris uprising of 1832.

Epic, moving, and grand in scale, Les Misérables overflows with melodies that have become classics. At Tuacahn, the breathtaking natural backdrop of the red rock canyon amplifies every emotion, from heart-wrenching solos to soaring ensemble numbers, creating an experience unlike any other.

RANDAL KEITH* (N: Professor Ray, Nigel, Ensemble | L: Javert) is honored to return to Tuacahn in Les Misérables, a story that has shaped much of his artistic journey. He previously spent nine years performing Jean Valjean in Les Misérables on Broadway, on national tour, and in Asia, and is deeply grateful to now explore the role of Javert from a new and deeply compelling perspective. At Tuacahn, he has appeared in The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Jersey Boys, Newsies, and The Little Mermaid, and always cherishes the opportunity to perform in such a breathtaking setting. His career has also included national tours of The Phantom of the Opera, Sunset Boulevard, and Spamalot. His concert work has taken him to venues including Walt Disney Concert Hall and internationally to Seoul, South Korea. Randal is continually inspired by the power of music and storytelling and is especially thankful to share this evolving journey with the Tuacahn community.

MINDY SMOOT ROBBINS

MINDY SMOOT ROBBINS* (L: Fantine) has a lifelong connection to Les Misérables that began in childhood—playing Cosette in a student production and, at 11, sitting spellbound as Candese Marchese sang “On My Own” on the Broadway tour. In that moment in the balcony, she knew she wanted to be in this musical. She grew up listening to the album on repeat in her parents’ Cadillac, and at 20 received the dream phone call to join the 10th Anniversary Broadway tour—understudying Éponine (Sutton Foster) and performing alongside Colm Wilkinson, whose voice had filled her childhood. Returning now as Fantine marks a full-circle homecoming to the story that first inspired her, and she is honored to return to the Tuacahn stage after playing Mary Poppins (Mary), The Sound of Music (Maria, Liesl), My Fair Lady (Eliza), Matilda (Miss Honey), Annie Get Your Gun (Annie), and Annie (Grace). Mindy is an owner of Utah COPA, with three locations serving over 700 musical theater students across the state, and is forever grateful for her husband, Conor, and their children—Abe, Mylee, Anna, and Niko—for their love and support.

KELSEY LEE SMITH* (N: Ensemble, u/s Nemo | L: Eponine) is elated to be returning to the beautiful Tuacahn Amphitheatre for a third season! Grateful to perform the roles in shows she’s always dreamed of. Last year you may have seen her as Ariel in The Little Mermaid. In Tuacahn’s 2024 season she played Anya in Anastasia and Francine in Jersey Boys. Some other favorite roles are Ariel in Footloose at Burbank’s Colony Theatre, and Anna in Frozen at Disneyland. Other credits include Invincible the Musical at the Wallis Annenberg Center in Beverly Hills and the Rudolph 2023 National Tour. Kelsey is a graduate of UCLA with a BA in Musical Theatre. National and international credits include Cinderella with Lea Salonga (Broadway Asia), The Wizard of Oz (CLO Tour), The Music Man in Concert with Shirley Jones and Patrick Cassidy, and starring in the World Premiere National Tour of Divorce Party: The Musical. Favorite roles include the title role in Victor/ Victoria, Rona (The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee), the Beggar Woman (Sweeney Todd), Nancy (Oliver!), the Witch (Into the Woods), Trina (Falsettos), Tanya (Mamma Mia!), and Mrs. Wormwood (Matilda). JAYVEN COOK (L: Gavroche) is so excited to be playing Gavroche in Les Misérables at Tuacahn Center for the Arts! This role is a dream come true! He previously appeared at Tuacahn las summer as a Munchkin in The Wizard of Oz , where he made friends that will last a lifetime, and before that played Young Scrooge/Jonathan in A Christmas Carol in the Tuacahn indoor Hafen theater.  He recently began attending Vista School of the Performing Arts and is excited to keep learning and growing as a performer. When he’s not on stage, he loves spending time with his family and doing gymnastics, basketball, and football. He also lives with Type 1 Diabetes and wants other kids to know it doesn’t have to hold you back—with determination and a positive attitude you can accomplish anything you set your mind to.

EMMITT KLC (L: Gavroche) is 10 years old and is currently attending Vista School of Performing Arts as a 4th grader, right here in Ivins. Emmitt loves to act, dance, and play soccer when he isn’t going to school.  He started acting  when he was 5 years old in the Jr. Production of Lion King. Since then he has been in Shrek the Musical Jr. , Beauty and the Beast Jr., and Matilda  the Musical Jr. For the past 4 years he has been in his school production of the Nutcracker, it’s one of his favorite things to be apart of. Emmitt is so excited to be part of the magic here at Tuacahn for his first season and share the stage with so many talented actors. He wants to say thank you so his family and teachers who have always been there to support him.

BETTY JORGENSEN (L: Young Cosette, Young Eponine) feels like she is in a castle on a cloud getting to work with this amazing cast!  Most recently, you may have seen Betty in Elf the Musical at Tuacahn’s Hafen theater.  Other favorite roles include Tommy in Matilda (SGMT), Squirt in Finding Nemo (Encore), Molly in Annie (Broadway Bound), and many others! When she isn’t on stage, Betty enjoys soccer, crafts, viola, and piano.  Betty wants to thank Brittani and all her teachers at Utah Copa, as well as Mimi and Kara for their vocal training. KASSIE NIELSON (L: Young Cosette, Young Eponine) is honored to be making her debut on the big Tuacahn stage this season! Since recently discovering her love for musical theater, she has performed in Les Miserables (Young Cosette), A Christmas Carol – A New Musical (Tiny Tim), and Anastasia (Young Anastasia) all with Encore Performing Arts in St. George, UT. In her free time Kassie enjoys doing art projects and playing with her dog. Kassie wishes to thank her family and friends as well as her directors and mentors at Encore Performing Arts and St. George Children’s Choir for their love and encouragement. 

LENA WHITE

LENA WHITE (L: Young Cosette, Young Eponine) is back in the canyon for her fourth show with Tuacahn. She hasn’t stopped smiling since she joined the cast of Anastasia two summers ago as Young Anastasia. Since then, Tuacahn has been her second home while playing Fan/Grace in A Christmas Carol and a munchkin in The Wizard of Oz.  She recently played Matilda in Matilda Jr. at her school where she also enjoys being part of the corps dance company. Lena studies voice and acting with Lisa Hopkins Seegmiller, Tony Award Winner & Grammy Award Nominee. A native to the red rocks of St. George, Lena spends her free time exploring the outdoors with her family, making custom jewelry, learning Chinese, and volunteering at P.A.W.S animal rescue. SITTICHAI CHAIYAHAT* (N: Crush, Ensemble | L: Feuilly, Ensemble) is ecstatic to make his debut here at Tuacahn! He is a Thai-American Actor, Singer, Teacher, and Theater Artist. He is also a proud Alumni of Mira Costa College’s Theater Program and UC Irvine’s MFA in Acting program. He has a plethora of teaching/ instructional experience where he first taught multiple classes at UC Irvine’s Claire Trevor School of the Arts during his time as a graduate student, he was also a Teaching Artist for The Young Shakespeareans (an after school arts program serving Los Angeles’ underserved communities), as well as an Instructional Assistant at Major General Murray High School (a public continuation school). DOMINIC GIOVANNI* (N: Marlin | L: Ensemble) is thrilled to be making waves this season at Tuacahn Center for the Arts. Originally from Queens, NY, he holds a BFA in Musical Theatre from SUNY Cortland. This summer you can catch him as Marlin in Finding Nemo: The Musical, while also appearing in the ensembles of Les Misérables and Grease. Favorite past roles include Kristoff in Frozen, Brad in The Rocky Horror Show, and Trevor in The Play That Goes Wrong. Dominic is represented by The Wolf Talent Group and sends love and thanks to his friends, family, and his girlfriend Annie for their endless support. After searching the entire ocean, he’s happy to report he finally found Nemo… about three shows a week.

She was last seen as Specs in Newsies, Andrina in The Little Mermaid and swing/dance captain in The Wizard of Oz.  She also had the opportunity of being the Assistant Director/Assist. Choreographer for Elf the musical this past winter in the Hafen. Other favorite credits include the 1st National Tour of Tootsie the Musical, Thoroughly Modern Millie and Hairspray at Music Theatre Wichita, Spamalot at Studio Tenn, Evita at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center, West Side Story at A.D Players Houston and more. Delaney is from Spokane WA but currently based in NYC. COBY ORAM

COBY ORAM (N: Ensemble | L: Joly, Ensemble, u/s Marius) grew up in St. George, UT, and graduated from Tuacahn High School with his identical twin brother in 2016. The last show he performed on the amphitheater stage alongside his fellow classmates was Grease. Now Coby is based out of New York City and is best known for playing the role of Frankie Valli in numerous productions of Jersey Boys. Other favorite credits include Tarzan in Disney’s Tarzan and originating the role of SLUG in the world premiere of Planet W. Coby’s on-screen credits include the horror flick Livescreamers and the upcoming Rom-Com Startup Love. He is passionate about travel, new works, film, and songwriting. Coby is grateful to his family and the local community of incredible artists who helped cultivate his love of the arts in this canyon.

ALEC TALBOTT* (N: Anchor, Ensemble, u/s Crush | L: Babet, Ensemble) is returning for his second season in the canyon and couldn’t be happier to be back! Alec grew up in Nebraska, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science at the University of Nebraska- Lincoln, while teaching dance, and choreographing musicals and show choir on the side. He then went on to perform professionally in ballet and musical theater- some highlights include: Flotsam and ensemble roles at Tuacahn last year while understudying Scuttle, Tinman, and Davey, a swing in Waitress with Cost n’ Mayor at La Mirada Theater, Conrad Birdie in Bye Bye Birdie at Maine State Music Theater, and the ensemble of the national tour of A Christmas Story.
