A lot of what makes our Broadway Musicals as magical as they are happens backstage before the shows start. Our paint department has been hard at work the past couple of months getting the sets ready for opening night later this month. Find out more about our amazing Paint Supervisor Russ Saxton.
- How long have you worked at/been with Tuacahn?

I’ve slung paint on and off in the paint department for 10 seasons. The past year and a half I’ve been the paint supervisor working with our crazy talented charge artists and running the hard-working paint crew.
- What do you do for Tuacahn?
As paint supervisor I oversee all the paint techniques called for by the designers of each show. We work from their paint elevations to create all the painted elements for the Mainstage and Hafen shows.
- What is your favorite part of working at Tuacahn?
Tuacahn creates theater magic. I thrive on collaborating with some of the most talented artisans to bring Broadway quality productions to the Tuacahn stage. Everything we do is to create an amazing night of theater for our patrons.
- What is your favorite show you’ve seen at Tuacahn?
Wow, that’s a hard one to answer because they all are so individually spectacular. In the Amphitheatre it’s probably, Mama Mia but in the Hafen it’s hands down Million Dollar Quartet. I can’t wait for Beautiful this season – I’m sure it will become one of my new favorites.
- Something fun about you/something that people might not know.
I was a high school theater teacher at Dixie High School in Saint George, Utah for 32 years. Many of my former students work or have worked at Tuacahn over the years. They make me so proud to watch them continue to excel on stage and behind the scenes in various technical positions.
