Employee Spotlight – Alex Huff –
Music Director / Conductor

Alex Huff – Music Director / Conductor

How many seasons have you worked for Tuacahn?

This is my 3rd Season at Tuacahn! I joined the music team in 2024.

What do you do for Tuacahn?

I am one of the Music Directors/Conductors at Tuacahn! This year, I am the Music Director for Disney & Pixar’s Finding Nemo: A Family Musical. For this show, I was able to work directly with Disney Theatrical Group and Myrna Conn (Orchestrator) to format and prepare all the orchestra parts for this show. I am also the Associate Music Director for Les Miserables and Grease this season. As the associate, I am the primary rehearsal pianist and will conduct these shows when the music director is out. I play in the orchestra for the shows that I don’t conduct.

What is your favorite part of working at Tuacahn?

I think there are two main reasons as to why I Love Tuacahn so much — the first is that this place is filled with good people. From cast, creatives, crew, orchestra, full-time administrative staff, to those that we only see at performances  like concessions and ushers — everyone is so kind, friendly, and caring. There’s a great culture that has been created here. The other reason is the MAGIC of these productions. From fireworks to floods and glorious full orchestras, live animals and even projecting stars on the canyon wall — there are so many things that can only be done at Tuacahn.

What is your favorite show you’ve seen/worked on at Tuacahn?

I think the answer has to be Newsies last season. I have a long history with this show — I saw the show on Broadway 7 times (I didn’t even live in NYC!). I saw the tour twice — and one of my closest friends was in the tour cast and featured on the live capture of the show that was released. I had been waiting for YEARS to work on a production of Newsies and last year Tuacahn made that dream come true. I ended up getting to conduct multiple performances of Newsies last year — including closing night. Conducting that final performance (with Newsies Original Broadway Cast member Andy Richardson as Crutchie and my dear friend James Everts as Jack Kelly) is a night I will never forget.

Something fun about you/something that people might not know.

I’m kind of Disney obsessed. (Most people know this, though….) Because of my love of Disney Parks, I became a Travel Advisor! In addition to working full time as a music director, I also am an Independent Travel Advisor with Travelnation. I don’t just book Disney, though — I’ve planned almost everything from theme park trips to cruises, and even full European adventures!
