My name is Chloe Grotheer and I am currently the AEA Assistant Stage Manager here at Tuacahn Amphitheatre. I was born and raised in Savannah, Georgia. I enjoy spending time in nature, walking, hiking, and hanging out with friends and family from Utah to Georgia.
My job consists of coordinating the backstage traffic of actors, crew, & scenic elements ensuring the safety of the personnel who work onstage and off. While the shows open in late May and early June, my job starts in early March. I am a part of an amazing team of professional stage managers that work with all departments to help directors achieve their visions of the shows that Tuacahn proudly presents. From March to May, we rehearse the shows both indoors and outdoors, our team’s responsibility is to create the daily schedule and inform all departments of the needs of the show from day to day. Myself and two other incredible deck stage managers (Briana Barker & Liv Meinders, Stage Management Production Assistants) work throughout the rehearsal process to create detailed paperwork that prepares us and all the other backstage crews for what is needed going into the tech processes. This paperwork outlines scenic shifts, backstage cues, entrances and exits, props tracking, and any other information necessary to the backstage run of each show.

This is my fourth outdoor season here at Tuacahn Center for the Arts. As an assistant stage manager, what I enjoy most is being a part of the theatrical process from first day of rehearsal to closing night. I get to work with directors, designers, cast, crew, and house management to create something truly magical that everyone can enjoy live onstage every night. Tuacahn has a special place in my heart as I have been lucky enough to work with some of the same teams my whole time here. I am very fortunate to have worked with incredible Production Stage Managers Holley Housewright and A.J. Sullivan since my first year here in 2022 and in 2023 we gained another incredible anchor to the team Jeff Norman. The amount I have been able to learn from these three incredibly experienced stage managers has been invaluable and I have learned skills that will carry me throughout the rest of my career. Making theatre that inspires so many others to continue in their own creative journeys and keep the magic of imagination alive is something I am very blessed to be able to do.
