‘Rudolph’ production brings classic Christmas to life

As the famous song goes, “You know Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen…” and on down the line, ultimately asking whether you know Rudolph. But of course, you do! In fact, you probably know Rudolph best. He is the most famous reindeer after all.

With his bright, shiny nose and unconquerable spirit, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer has become synonymous with the Christmas season. But did you know you can see his famous tale unfold — live on stage in the Indoor Hafen Theatre at Tuacahn this season?

It’s true!

Paying homage to the classic Claymation animated story featuring all the characters you know and love, Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer comes to life at the hands of Director and Choreographer Alan Coats and an immensely talented professional cast and crew.

“The whole thing could not be more beautiful, or more current,” ~Alan Coats

“All of the original charm is still there,” Coats said of the live version that bears remarkable similarity to the classic film. “Parents can mouth it almost word-for-word, while their children are coming to experience it for the first time. It’s a fantastic way to connect generations.”

In an effort to preserve all the nostalgia of the original, the creators of the stage version of this holiday favorite took great pains to incorporate costumes and set design, as well as the script and songs, that fit almost exactly with the 1964 film.

“As viewers, we expect certain things to be in the show and we’re not dissatisfied when it matches our expectations,” Coats said.

Yet the message behind Rudolph’s Christmas-saving flight is virtually timeless.

“The whole thing could not be more beautiful, or more current,” Coats said. “It’s a show about misfits — or what they think in the beginning are misfits — and how we treat people when we may not yet be looking at the whole picture.”

“It’s just so special to be a part of it,” ~Alan Coats

You’ll be humming your favorite holiday tunes including “A Holly Jolly Christmas, “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” and more as you exit the Hafen Theatre after enjoying this Christmas-season spectacle.

“It’s just so special to be a part of it,” Coats said.

Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer plays Nov. 25 to Dec. 22, 2022 inside the Indoor Hafen Theatre. Get your tickets online at www.tuacahn.org or by calling the box office at 435-652-3300.
