Tuacahn’s internship program is giving more and more college students the opportunity to experience careers in professional theater. Not only do these interns get academic credit for their work at Tuacahn, but they get hands-on experience in their fields of choice and a behind-the-scenes look at how professional Broadway productions come together.
This summer, Sydney Winn was selected to be the intern for Tuacahn’s marketing department. She’s a San Diego native and has just finished her junior year at BYU-Idaho. How long have you worked at Tuacahn? I’ve been at Tuacahn for a little over a month now.
- What do you do for Tuacahn? I am the marketing intern this summer, which means I do whatever the marketing team gives me: pillar posters, social media help, email drafts, help with events, and tons of other things!
- What is your favorite part of working at Tuacahn? It’s hard to pick one favorite part. I love the people I work with. The marketing team is so friendly, and they have made me feel so welcomed here. I love Tuacahn in general, so it’s fun working for a place that I’ve loved foryears.
What is your favorite show you’ve seen at Tuacahn? Again, so hard to pick one! I’ve seen so many Tuacahn musicals. I think my absolute favorite was The Hunchback of Notre Dame from last year. I wasn’t expecting it to be my favorite, so it was a total surprise! In fact, I loved Tarzan and The Hunchback of Notre Dame so much that I convinced my roommate to drive back to Tuacahn with me to see the closing nights of both shows. We drove 8 hours on a Friday morning to catch the Friday and Saturday night shows.
- Something fun about you/something that people might not know? My favorite outdoor activity is cliff jumping! Also, while I’ve been able to see 26 musicals so far, I haven’t yet been to Broadway in New York City.
