If Jami Lah had to encapsulate the details of the upcoming TEDxStGeorge event into a short, powerful message — you know, like giving a TED Talk describing this TED event — she’d probably start out with the fact that “it’s like going to a brain spa.”
“Coming to a live event is so much more unique than watching a TED Talk online…”
“People are going to come away from this thinking, ‘I never thought of it like that before,’ and ‘I’d never heard that idea,’” Lah said. “It brings all these amazing thinkers, doers and leaders together and shares their ideas in a quick, pop talk.”

Though Lah is quick to point out she is the organizer of the event, not one of the trained TEDx speakers, she said that after her first TEDx experience more than a decade ago, she knew she had just been apart of something special. And she wanted to do more.
Featuring 10 speakers with topics ranging from civilians in space to a motocross champion and vertical farming, TEDxStGeorge is an engaging, fast-paced, independently organized TED event filled with education and entertainment on April 8 in the Tuacahn Amphitheatre.
“It’s not like you’re coming to be bored by a bunch of talks. It’s like a Broadway show, but it’s TEDxStGeorge, ” Lah said. Then laughing she added, “We don’t give anybody time to doze off during these 6 to 8 minute talks.”
“…you should come for the overall unique experience…”
In addition to the speakers, the night will feature several performances and “a few other little goodies” that Lah said she is excited for audiences to enjoy.

“Even though each speaker is worth the price of admission, you shouldn’t come just to hear one particular person, you should come for the overall unique experience,” Lah said.
Perhaps the most important pieces to the TEDx puzzle are the people who attend the event.

“Coming to a live event is so much more unique than watching a TED Talk online,” Lah said. “Here you’ll meet so many interesting people from all backgrounds. It’s a very welcoming crowd of ‘TED-sters’ as we like to call them.”
